Your role and responsibilities
As a research scientist in Cyber Security, you will be working on the future architecture and design of ABB's software-based products, with a special focus on the digitalization of industrial systems. We are looking for a team member with a proven research track record and the eagerness to transfer and apply world class academic research into an industrial environment. You will work within the highly motivated, international team of scientists at ABB Research. We offer an open and innovative international work environment with many diverse opportunities to grow your career.The work model for the role is: onsite / remoteYou will be mainly accountable for:• Contribute to and/or lead research projects that turn state-of-the-art research results into effective solutions for ABB. • Create prototypes of innovative concepts with real business impact• Evaluate new technologies and assess their impact on ABB products and roadmaps.• Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports.• Build a network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise.This position reports to Research Team Manager
Qualifications for the role
- PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or in a related field
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in cyber security or IT/OT system security. Experience with standards is a plus.
- Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., C/C++, Python, Rust, Zig)
- Hands-on experience with frameworks and tooling (e.g., CI/CD, DevSecOps, containers, debugger, profiler)
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in one or multiple of the following topics is a plus: software engineering, distributed systems, computer networking, embedded systems, machine learning
- Proven publication track record at top scientific conferences and journals
- Excellent communication skills and team player attitude
