Our ABB Discovery Trainee Program offers a unique entry opportunity with a dynamic role and a motivated team. Experience the operations of an international company firsthand during three different six months assignments over the course of a total of 18 months structured around the topic of Service in Mining.

The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid.

Start date of the program is October  1, 2026. The selection process is taking place between June and July 2026.

Your main availabilities will be:

  • Assignment 1 – Switzerland: Collaborate with the Service Product Management, Service Sales, and Service Project Management teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of ABB's service portfolio, customer challenges, and business drivers. Working closely with technical and commercial stakeholders, support the identification of portfolio gaps and growth opportunities, particularly in the areas of automation, industrial cybersecurity, and electrification, and contribute to the development of future service solutions.
    Assignment 2 – International Assignment: Join an ABB unit abroad and work closely with local teams and customers to gain first-hand exposure to operational challenges, market dynamics, and customer needs. Contribute to identifying opportunities where ABB's service offerings can enhance reliability, productivity, sustainability, and operational performance.
    Assignment 3 – Switzerland: Shape your final assignment together with the business based on organizational priorities and your interests. Potential areas of focus would be in an engineering team, working closely with subject matter experts where you will strengthen your technical foundation while contributing to initiatives that support service innovation, portfolio development, and business growth. Additional collaboration with Product Management, Strategy, and Business Development teams may be included depending on business priorities.
  • Engage in challenging assignments that provide exposure to different functions, allowing you to build a broad understanding of ABB's service business while developing your technical, commercial, and leadership capabilities.
  • Benefit from personalized training, professional mentoring, executive exposure, and continuous support from the Discovery Program team, while receiving regular feedback to accelerate your development.
  • Actively participate in social events and team activities, build a global network across ABB, and become part of our vibrant Discovery Trainee community.

What we're looking for:

  • Master’s degree from university or applied science university in electrical engineering
  • Completed university studies and maximum three years of professional work experience before the start date October 1, 2026
  • Developed analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of English; additional languages are considered an advantage.
  • Authorization to work in Switzerland is required
